Dad Jumps from Seat to Protect His Son from a Raging Bull

A man is being called the "Dad of the Year" after a viral video shows him jumping from his seat to enter a rodeo and throwing himself between a raging bull and his son.

18-year-old Cody Hooks was competing in a Texas rodeo when he was thrown off the bull only a few short seconds into his turn. Cody was knocked unconscious by the bull.

The bull kept flailing wildly as bullfighters struggled to calm the massive animal down.

That's when Hooks' father Landis' instincts kicked in.

"Honestly, that's not the first time I've jumped on somebody like that. It just comes from being around it all the time. No matter what, I'm going to do what I'm going to do for him. Did I like it, no? I didn't like it one bit," he told ABC13.

Incredibly, neither of the Hooks men were injured by the bull. Cody was reportedly fine despite being knocked out and has no intentions of giving up bull riding.
